'Receipt is below this statement'
On Wednesday, February 5th, 2003, six (6) Federal people came to my house to
pick up the 'TPS' materials (the 2nd find of 02/04/03): 2 men from FEMA, 2 men
from the EPA and 1 man 1 woman from NASA. I greeted them at the front door with
smiles and firm handshakes from all. I found them to have been very polite,
friendly and professional people, who were all very respectful towards me. Once
they all entered the house, I showed them my NASA IDs and my Certificates of
Training from NASA (all posted herein on
the JLBio page), then I asked the NASA
representative for his wallet ID to which he did, in fact, show me, and I
confirmed it as being a true NASA ID, despite the fact that they all were
wearing jackets, which had their respective 'logos' imprinted upon them. I then
revealed the samples of Columbia debris
('TPS') I had found yesterday not twenty
(20) feet away from the 1st find of 02/01/03, to which the NASA representative
confirmed that at least one of the samples was, indeed, 'TPS' from the 'External
Tank' of Columbia, which was installed upon the external tank, which was used during the time of
the launch. The seriousness upon his face cannot be overstated. The EPA man
informed me also that the 3 to 5 smaller pieces I had dropped off to the
Cleburne Police, which he had picked up yesterday, was as well, 'TPS.' I asked
the NASA official to sign the posted handwritten 'receipt' to which he did. We
parted shortly thereafter under very friendly and respectful means, and they all
seemed VERY pleased to have recovered these, the most important (in my humble
view) of all 'debris' from the fallen, Columbia Space Shuttle. I felt a strong
sense of well-being upon their departure, that I had helped, even in a small
way, to recover and to hopefully, allow the reconstruction of all of the found
debris to discover the cause of this, yet another, American tragedy.
Respectfully submitted,
Jason Greywolf Leigh
