"All things must pass . . . "

~ Rest In Peace ~

He impressed me so very much--when I was a pre-teen and saw he and The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show with my family--that I wanted to pick up a guitar--and be just like him. I did learn the guitar, and I became a song writer--just like George . . .

I had won a 'look alike' contest down in New Orleans in 1971, just after the movie, "Let it Be," came out. I looked,  somewhat like George, with my haircut, mustache and put-on British accent, which many said sounded, "just like George."

I heard the news of George's passing early this morning, November 30th, 2001: my birthday. Last year (11/30/2000), I was interviewed (which, ironically,  occurred on my birthday) by Dr. Bob Hieronimus on 21st Century radio (click here * look under 'guests: A to Z'), who sent me some very special gifts: a 'Yellow Submarine' and a 'Friend of George Harrison' lapel pin, both of which I proudly placed on my leather WW II A-2 bomber jacket last year--and continue to wear to this day. It seems so much more treasured--now.

(Thanks Dr. Bob).

George Harrison passed away yesterday (11/29/01), thankfully; not leaving a tragic memory to my date of birth. He would have wanted it that way . . .

Thank you, George--for being like a 'Big Brother' to me---for impressing me with your gentle mannerisms and inspiring me with your great work--to have created my own music, which some have said of a few songs, "sounds like a Harrison tune . . ."

"I used to hate it when someone asked me, 'Who was your favorite Beatle?' My standard answer has always been, 'they were all; fingers of the same hand.' And so they were, and so they always will be . . ."
